There are various institutions/actors which are constructing European penological knowledge regime through discursive practices. The current article attempts to analyse (re-)negotiation of meanings within this particular knowledge system and understand how knowledge production has changed in the European penology vis-à-vis new penological discourse penetration. To do so, vector space model is utilised to measure meanings in the European Penological Corpus (a specialised corpus was constructed for this project) and their diachronic semantic change from 1949 to 2020.
